 Habitat for Humanity Orientation

We will hold a public information meeting on Tuesday, September 28, at 6:00 to present information on the Habitat program.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn the qualifications that are necessary to be chosen as a Habitat homeowner. If you are considering applying to become a partner with Habitat (or just would like to know more about Habitat for Humanity) please make plans to join us. We will meet in the St. John’s Church parish hall (upstairs) at 101 N. 14th Street.

 Haiti Earthquake Help Requested!

In an Emergency Bulletin Habitat for Humanity International is asking for donations and support for the victims of the earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Dear Habitat supporter,

Imagine the fear of the earth shaking violently beneath you as you would never have thought possible. Imagine the utter terror of your home crumbling in around you. While the assessments are just beginning, already we know that the 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince Tuesday is a catastrophe of major proportions.

Your support NOW is critically important! The extent of Habitat's ability to help families rebuild their homes and lives after this devastating earthquake will depend on the funds we can raise for the work—and on how quickly those funds are available.

Join us in praying for the best—but preparing for the worst. Please help by making a secure online donation today.

Habitat has worked in Haiti for 26 years — and we will be there for the long term to help families whose homes were lost get back into safe, decent and affordable housing.

Support the victims in Haiti with an emergency online donation.

Thank you for your help during this critical time.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Reckford
Chief Executive Officer
Habitat for Humanity

Navarro Habitat Cookbook, First Edition

 The Cookbooks are in!

The Habitat for Humanity cookbook, “Home Sweet Habitat” has been printed and is now available in Navarro County! For a donation of $18 to Habitat for Humanity of Navarro County you will receive this lovely hardback cookbook, which contains nearly 500 recipes submitted by members of our community.

In the spring of 2009 a plea went out in Navarro County asking for recipes to be donated to this project. The cookbook committee received a great response, and set about the task of compiling, typing, editing and submitting the cookbook. In addition, many businesses and individuals throughout Navarro County purchased advertising to help offset the cost of producing the cookbook, allowing more of your donation to go back into the homes being built in our community.

You may contact the Habitat office for more information or to purchase books.

We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in putting this wonderful cookbook together. We appreciate your support of Habitat – all proceeds from this project will go towards furthering Habitat’s mission of providing affordable, decent housing to those in our community who need it most.

 Gioia Circle Dedication, Videos

Video footage taken on June 20, 2009, at the dedication ceremony for Gioia Circle and Missey Evans's house. The first video shows preparations of the dedication and some impressions from Gioia Circle and the new Habitat house, the other 4 videos provide an almost complete (besides the very first part) coverage of the dedication ceremony.

Videos were taken in HD (High Definition) format and are available in HD on YouTube. You can play the videos directly here by clicking the play button. Clicking in the video itself takes you to YouTube where the video(s) can be viewed in much higher and better resolution.

June 20, 2009: Dedication of Gioia Circle

Please RSVP here by June 15th for the dedication.

The dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Gioia Circle is the first Habitat for Humanity neighborhood in Navarro County. The City of Corsicana donated all lots (a total of nine (9)) to Navarro Habitat with the purpose to make this a dedicated Habitat neighborhood.

Along with the dedication of the Gioia Circle neighborhood, Navarro Habitat will also dedicate the home of Missey Evans, who is the first partner family on Gioia Circle.

Gioia Circle is located north of First Avenue, off North Ninth Street, behind the Salvation Army. Click here for a map of Gioia Circle

The dedication will take place on June 20th at 11:00am, and at 12:00pm we will be serving lunch (please RSVP!). Between 1:30pm and 3:30pm we will have a neighborhood Open House, to show interested folks how the Habitat works and what we are doing.

Click here to RSVP by June 15th, or you can also RSVP by calling Navarro Habitat at (03) 872-4690.
